At the end of May 2020 my mother died. I spent the following summer living at her house, which was once our house, going through the things that once constituted our lives there. Among the many heirlooms, letters, photographs, furniture, art, junk and memories were instruments in various states of repair and tuning that my brother and I had left there over our years of coming and going. These recordings were made in that house, during that time, with those things, and with the sounds of the house and that summer.
